When poverty is repackaged as urban hipster cool, rebranded using another’s culturally significant imagery like a new neighborhood coffee shop, and markets are opened to “new” socially accepted classes through formerly inaccessible channels—-BofA and Whole Foods—-capital andwealth soon come—-luxury high rises with condo amenities. Old faces start being erased and new color lines are drawn.
